Realize to Act

Realize to Act is a 501(c)3 nonprofit founded by Tanya Keskar in 2017 on the idea that people are not just statistics, with a mission to break the cycles of homelessness and poverty. They aim to fill in gaps in the education system, providing hundreds of backpacks every year to underserved school districts to empower students to continue their education and dream big. Realize to Act has appreciated the support and mentorship of community members and organizations like Dean Houston, and has been recognized and supported with an honorary Key to the City of Dayton KY,  the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, by Ohio and California state legislature, the Congressional Gold Medal Award, the Holocaust and Humanity Center Upstander Awards, Kroger, and Meijer. Realize to Act is working on a new project to better support school districts in locating enough resources to cover their students’ needs. They will help school district resource coordinators quickly establish support for school supplies and other basic needs for their students, and help them create long-term connections, aided by an app or website platform that will connect companies and individuals who want to get involved to local school districts’ specific needs. Realize to Act’s goal is to continue expanding their resource network and support for school districts more efficiently by connecting existing but under-utilized resources through this platform.
