Neighborhood Food Helps Solve Food Insecurity

We are Alton Yard Farms, a first year, micro urban farm located in the Historic Middletown neighborhood of Alton. Our mission is to move grass and grow food throughout neighborhoods in Alton, IL using organic, no-till practices and food sovereignty principles. We want to shorten the food supply chain AND subsidize solutions for food deserts with hopes that we can affect revitalization and connection in the community. We started with twelve 25-foot permanent beds in early 2021, and plan to expand our backyard as well as to another residential yard for the 2022 season.
