CareerPilot

“How should I know what to do with my life when I’m 17?”   – Every high schooler, ever

CareerPilot seeks to transform the career selection process through experiential exercises formulated to simulate real job duties. Legacy programs match students with careers via superficial personality surveys, while CareerPilot software puts the student experience at the forefront of the discovery process.

First, students will gain a functional understanding of a career’s fundamental tasks. For example, students considering a software development career will encounter an elementary version of the code de-bugging process, while aspiring accountants will balance some basic ledgers.

Beyond this authentic sampling of substantive job tasks, CareerPilot exercises also expose the often-overlooked realities of these careers. For example, the software developer will face an unrealistic deadline for a non-technical boss and the accountant will quickly encounter ethical pressure from all sides.
