Businesses United in Diversity
Businesses United in Diversity is a local business festival featuring BIPOC-owned businesses. By hosting monthly business festivals, we aim to provide a space to entrepreneurs to sell and showcase their products and services in a prime location- Uptown Kingston. Supported by Ulster County and Representative Antonio Delgado, our mission is to counteract the systemic hurdles and effects BIPOC entrepreneurs have faced in the Hudson Valley.
BIPOC-owned businesses are subject to an unequal sharing of financial and government resources, discriminatory lending practices, and an absence of community support due to systemic racist ideals that have been woven into the fabric of society. COVID-19 made this reality even more consequential: black-owned and POC-owned businesses have experienced disproportionate financial distress, closures, and lack access to pandemic relief resources.
