Boutique RE Investment Banking

I am working on a business plan for a boutique investment banking firm to serve middle-market CRE operators, e.g. developers, builders, management companies. Chief commonality among the proposed client base will be the need to deploy in local markets in which strategic advice on both portfolio/RE asset mix and corporate finance objectives can add value.

The firm will draw upon deep experience in the RE capital markets to advise on portfolio acquisitions/dispositions, structuring of asset-backed vehicles (e.g. non-listed REITs, collateralized securities), access to growth capital, and representation for strategic asset initiatives (including workouts/repositions, LP exit negotiations, complex financings).  We will also be monitoring emerging trends that will serve our clients well during times of change, including ESG, automation/AI, and post-pandemic user demand for space. What this plan will NOT include is standard property brokerage, lending and investing.
