AquaGen – Renewable Energy Solutions
In high rainfall cities like Seattle, Washington, there are over 39 inches of rainfall per year – a natural resource that goes completely unused. We are developing and prototyping a device that will generate electrical energy from raindrops to provide clean energy to houses and reduce carbon emissions. From our research in energy harvesting we have experimental proof that water droplets landing on a substrate will produce a voltage output which can be harvested. We are a team of graduate and undergraduate engineering students looking to gain mentors and funding to create a rain-based renewable energy generation device that can replace up to 10% of a household’s yearly power consumption.
