Applied Bioplastics – Decarbonizing plastic
Plastic manufacturing is the fastest-growing source of emissions, expected to grow to 15% of all human emissions by 2050. There are currently no viable alternatives that maintain equivalent levels of cost and functionality that work with common manufacturing processes, critical needs to gain adoption.
Applied Bioplastics’ unique technology permanently bonds natural fiber and polymer to produce durable plastic for manufacturers. We match the functional qualities of traditional plastic and reduce the carbon footprint, while retaining the ability to be used in standard manufacturing processes.
By reducing the volume of oil-based polymers necessary for nearly any type of manufacturing, diverting waste cellulose from agriculture, and by purchasing farmed cellulose from agricultural communities around the world, AB is poised to transform industry in a way that benefits both our natural environment and the humans who occupy it.
