AgeSafe Assist

One out of four older adults fall each year. Falls are the leading cause of injury and death from injury among older adults. However, many older adults do not realize they are at risk until they have been injured or hospitalized due to a fall. HARP (Home Hazard Removal Program) is an intervention recently developed and tested by Occupational Therapist (OT) Dr. Susan Stark of Washington University in St. Louis. HARP is a preventative intervention, proven to reduce falls in older adults by 40%. However, at this moment, there is no way for HARP to be delivered to those who need it. AgeSafe Assist will be a online platform that trains OT’s to deliver HARP to patients, screen older adults to determine if they are at a great risk for falls, and connect at risk patients to qualified OT’s. At AgeSafe Assist, our goal is to open up this innovative intervention to the community so we can vastly improve the lives of older adults.
